IMPERFECT UTOPIA - Toru Morimoto & Tina Bagué

€49.00

“IMPERFECT UTOPIA” is a photographic project by two individuals aimed at expressing the everyday life of a remote island in Japan through contemporary documentary photography. Taking a cultural anthropological approach to ensure that everyday life on remote islands can be understood through photographs, we explore the customs, culture, traditions, festivals, and the individuals, families, and groups that form communities on these islands, as well as the economic situation and aspects that create a unique lifestyle in these islands. We capture this form of survival on film.

At the same time, the camera captures the beauty of everyday life on a remote island and the details that exist due to its unique location—far from the big city, surrounded by the sea, somewhat isolated from the flow of the world, and often forgotten even by the Japanese themselves.

Dimensions: 228×228 mm. Pages: 168. 1st Ed.: 2022. Details: 400 numbered copies
